James Ford was born on March 8, 1724, in Weymouth, Suffolk, Massachusetts[1]. He passed away in 1782.

Birth and Death Information James was born in Weymouth 8 March 1723-4, died there 13 March 1782, buried in the North Weymouth cemetery.

Marriage-James married in Weymouth (intention 18 May 1750) DEBORAH BADLAM, born in Weymouth IO March 1730, died there 11 July 1798, buried beside her husband, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Phillips) Badlam. She was bequeathed £15 in her father's will in 1759. "Widow Ford" was head of house in Weymouth Town, 1790 Census, 1 male over 16, I under and 3 females.

Land Purchases and Sales -James bought land in Weymouth from William Wheat in 1765, from Peter H. Richards in 1770 and from William Badlam in 1783 (date of recording). His estate sold property to James Humphrey and James Harding in 1783 and 1791.

Probate -Administration on his estate was granted 7 May 1782 to his son James with Samuel Kingman and Samuel Arnold as sureties; inventory was £1039. 14s.; division was made 18 Sept. 1783 to eight children, exclusive of the widow's dower.

He may have had the Revolutionary service ascribed to "James Ford, Weymouth" in Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War, vol. 5, p. 858.
  2. ii. HANNAH, b. 9 Oct. 1756; m. in Weymouth, 8 March 1775, JOHN SPBAGUE of Duxbury, son of Peleg' and Mercy (Chandler) Sprague. They removed to Maine after 1777.
  3. iii. EUNICE, b. 13 Jan. 1759; d. in Braintree, Mass., 4 Oct. 1810; m. in Weymouth, 29 Aug. 1782, JOSEPH NASH, b. there in June 1761, d. there 25 Dec. 1843, son of Joseph and Sarah (Damon) Nash.
  4. 43. iv. NATHANIEL, b. 17 March 1761.
  5. 44. v. SAMUEL, b. 26 March 1764. - married Sarah Dyer
  6. vi. DEBORAH, b. 1 Oct.1766; d. in Weymouth 10 Aug. 1793; m. there, 1 Nov. 1784 SAMUEL FENNO of Milton, Mass., b. there 25 April 1763, son of Samuel and Rebecca Fenno. They lived first in Milton, later in Weymouth.

Special Note about Samuel

  1. Samuel ID Number 44 is listed under his father James' ID Number 19 on page 46. The information on this page is sparse because Samuel will have his own profile later in the book.
  2. Samuel and his wife Sarah Dyer are wrongly named as the parents of Sarah Ford married to Isaac Ford under Isaac's biography in Volume 2 Chapter 25 on Page 641 of the genealogy book by Carroll Andrew Edson. [3]
